Abram Shtern graduated from the Kiev Conservatory as a violinist under tutelage of professor D. Bertie. |
|
He started his professional career as soloist at the Kiev Philharmonic and later became Professor at the Kiev State Conservatory. From 1947 to 1989 Mr. Shtern was a soloist at the Kiev Theater of Opera and Ballet. |
|
He has performed and taught at national and international music festivals in Yugoslavia and Georgia. He also went on concert tours, as a soloist, with various orchestras to the countries of the Eastern Europe and Cuba. |

As a renowned pedagogue Professor Shtern gives many Master Classes at festivals and at universities worldwide. |

His students have been top prizewinners in prestigious national and international competitions. |

Former students of Professor Shtern enjoy successful concert careers, hold positions in American and European universities and are members of prestigious orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic, Moscow Symphony, Kiev Philharmonic and Munich Philharmonic. |

Since 1989 Mr. Shtern lives in Los Angeles, United States. He successfully is continuing his career in teaching. |

Mr. Shtern traveled to Italy, Israel, Germany, and Holland as well as all over the country to give Master Classes. He has been mentioned in Y. Soroker’s book "Russian-Jewish Musician", published in Jerusalem in 1992, which is part of a series of publications entitled "Jews in World Cultures" as well as Henry Roth’s book "Violin Virtuosos from Paganini to the XXI Century", published in California in 1996. |
